RootsCollider is an Underground EDM Funktronic Dance Rock Band from Rochester, NY that uses a studio producer's approach to writing original music. The group creates it's art primarily by layering melodies, rhythms, and samples made in Ableton with an anthemic riff rock approach. Think of if Rage Against the Machine & The Beastie Boys went to an illicit warehouse rave and collaborated with all of the DJ's from EDM's golden era of the 1990's. Joe Driscoll is a one of a kind artist. The music he creates effortlessly fuses a pack of seemingly divergent genres. His sound is located at the crossroads of folk and hip-hop; a singer songwriter solidly rooted in the funk, borrowing elements of Americana, blues, and reggae, utilizing multiple instruments; and pulling it all together with a solid foundation of storytelling. Not only an innovator for the unique music he creates, but also for the way in which he creates it. One of the originators of the beatbox looping sound, Time Out Magazine referred to him as the 'sonic wonderkid who creates his own 21st century 'folk' live onstage: sample by sample, beat by beat.' Driscoll uses Boss RC-50 live looping technology, to layer up elements of beatbox, guitar, harmonica, didjerido, melodica, percussion, and any other instrument that inspires, to create a collage of sound, live on stage, each night. If you close your eyes, listening to the soundscape of a full band, you'd never imagine the lone character onstage. Though frequently known as a lone wolf, Driscoll is equally recognized for his collaborative efforts. He was a pivotal member of the artist collective OneTaste, creating improvisational music with artists such as Nicholas Mulvey, Kate Tempest, and Jamie Woon. Following that effort, Driscoll founded his own improvisational collective, The Local Posse, working with artists like Reeps One (Male Beatbox World Champ), Bellatrix (Female Beatbox World Champ), and Dizraeli (UK Slam Poetry Champ). His recent collaborative album with Guinean Kora Virtuoso Sekou Kouyate, 'Monistic Theory' reached #1 on both the iTunes and Amazon World Music Charts. His revolutionary take on music has seen him in demand all over the globe, playing main stage sets at England's Glastonbury and Womad Festivals, Ireland's Electric Picnic, Kenya's Rift Valley Festival, Russia's Platonov Arts Festival, California's Joshua Tree Festival, France's De Bout Du Monde, Germany's Fusion Festival, Zanzibar's Sauti Za Busara, Holland's Festival Mundial, and Malawi's Lake Of Stars to name just a few. Winner of the UK Indy Award for Best Solo Artist, featured artist on NPR's 'All Things Considered', televised appearances on NBC's Late Night With Carson Daly and Morrocco's national Korsa Live program. Joe has scored independent films, and his track Ridum was used by Nokia phones for an international ad campaign. Driscoll's passion for music and life is evident to all he encounters; and is apparent wether he is on stage or on record. PRESS QUOTES: "He blasts through stereotypes.
